The Energy of Negative Words & Their Side Effects
We all know that positive choices are better than negative ones. The same holds true with the energy of the negative words.
It is always better to choose to use positive words rather than negative ones, particularly when things get challenging. Why? Read on for the reason why negative words hurt you more than you think.
Words have power. When things get tough, when we are hurt, disappointed or struggling, using negative words can feel good. A well deserved release.
But the thing is that by doing that we actually hurt ourselves most then others.
How does it work?
Most of the time negative words have exited our mouths before we have even had time to process what we are saying. We may feel sorry later, feel guilty and ashamed. But is kind of too late.
The effect?
By giving voice to negative words, we invite even more negativity into our lives. By not taking a moment to stop and consider the language that we use, negative words can breed more negative experiences.
What we say becomes our reality. So giving voice to negative words, particularly in times of trouble has a surprisingly powerful negative effect on our lives.
The Energy of Negative Words Takes Over Our Life
Negative words simply push us backwards, limiting and hindering us as they enter our mindset and affect our behaviours. Before we know it, we begin to become and invite into our lives, those negative concepts and consequences that we have spoken into being.
As all of this happens subconsciously, without us realising it is taking place, so it is worth pressing the pause button before we speak.
How Can We Turn Negativity Into Positivity?
- For every negative word there is a positive equivalent.
- Every negative word that speaks of failure and giving up, has a positive option that motivates and encourages.
- Any self-limiting word that speaks of lack, unhappiness, dissatisfaction and disappointment, has an opposite word inspiring one that gives hope, life, gratitude and support.
When we look at situations, let’s choose an angle that does not assume the worst of others or what will happen next. Instead, why not build our perspective on seeking to understand, to trust that life will work out for the best, to recognise that there is always another option, to see how much we have already.
When we make these positive choices, when we choose to speak words that are positive rather than negative, we open our mindset and future to more.
So before you spread out the the energy of negative words that rush into your mind, take a moment to pause. This is a mindfulness practice. Reflect and re-phrase your first thoughts into something more positive, something hopeful that will move you forward.
