Me, Meditation, Bathtub and Netflix
To me, when it comes to meditation techniques, there are plenty of choices. It doesn’t have to be the traditional way of sitting, closing your eyes, repeating your mantra and focusing on emptying the mind.
To me, meditation is much more than that. To me, is also a way of channeling my creativity and tapping into my clarity.
I discovered this kind of active meditation when I used to practice Bikram Yoga and when I realised that the best of ideas and answers came to me during the class, without even setting that intention.
I realised that whilst I was focused on my practice, my mind found the sort of clarity and peacefulness that allowed for these answers to come to me. There was a certain kind of stillness in that movement that I resonated very well with.
Practice The Meditation Technique That Suits You The Best
When I stopped Bikram and focused more on Pilates Reformer, I realised that I wasn’t experiencing the same clarity. Not too sure why, I guess it might have to do with the fact that, although still a guided class, the rhythm and content are different.
When I switched to Pilates, I also started taking baths more often. That’s when I realised that sitting in the bathtub, watching something on my iPad had pretty much the same effect like going to a Bikram class.
Maybe it’s the heat that’s the trigger to my creativity, maybe its something else. The reality is that I received the best ideas and answers whilst laying in my bath tub and watching Chef’s Table” on Netflix!
That only comes to prove the fact that meditation is unique to each and everyone of us. That what works for one might not work for another and that’s ok. And the good news is that you can choose from so many meditation techniques the one that fits you the best.
Experiment and discover what works for you, as it is supposed to benefit you and you alone.
