Snoozing Vs An Effective Morning Energising Routine

Our morning energising routine is our day saviour. Especially now when it is dark and cold in the morning and the last thing you want to do is leap out of bed when the alarm goes off.

However that is exactly what you should do. An energising morning routine is the best way for your body to wake up every morning. Read on for an explanation of the reason why hitting the snooze button is a bad idea. And how an energising routine is the start to the day that you need every morning instead.

Snoozing Is Loosing

Contrary to what we might think, hitting snooze when the alarm goes off does not gain us extra energy. When we wake up, although we might not feel like it, our body is ready for action. Slipping back under the duvet for some more sleep actually ends up messing up our natural body clock which becomes completely confused about when your body should be ready for waking.

In order for us to wake up and start the day, our body has to start preparing for the event hours earlier. From increasing our body temperature to being alert, each part of our body needs to be readied in advance.

We all know that a good night’s sleep is essential for: good health, productivity, a positive mindset and a good mood.

When we snooze, our body is kicked into action then requested to return to sleep mode, then kicked into action again only to be switched back to sleep status seconds later.

It is like having a series of false starts over and over again. It is bad for our health and has a detrimental effect on the rest of our day.

How A Morning Energising Routine May Look Like

What you really need to do is to aim to wake up at the same time every day naturally, by establishing an energising morning routine that leaves you feeling ready for the day ahead. You only have to look to the early morning routines of all of the great leaders and innovators, to know that early risers are more productive.

From Oprah Winfrey to Tony Robbins, Wayne Dyer and countless other gurus, they all cite waking early with an energising routine, as the best way to start each day.

  • If you wake up at roughly the same time every day, you will soon find that you don’t need an jarring alarm to wake because your natural body clock will get you out of bed instead.
  • Aim to get up around 6 with some relaxing meditation practice, followed by 10-15 minutes of refreshing exercise and a nutritious breakfast. You will find that you wake up feeling refreshed, alert and ready for the day ahead.

Although it feels great in the moment, waking after snoozing leaves you feeling groggy and finding it hard to focus because your body did not have enough time to prepare itself for waking.

So instead of hitting the snooze button in the morning, wake up early with an energising morning routine that leaves you feeling productive and ready for the day ahead.

Top Tip: Try it every day (weekends included) for at least a month to actually see and feel the results!
