A Spark Woman’s Potion – The No-Coffee Elixir
It’s the mid-afternoon feeling of fatigue that really annoys me, when I need that quick fix that doesn’t involve caffeine. I am aware that if I drink caffeine after 3pm, it really messes with my sleep and its quality, so knowing that about my body, I avoid it.
In my quest to find the best option to fix my mid-afternoon drop in energy, I discovered a great smoothie that is easy to make and works wonders.
Furthermore, due to its taste, makes for a great snack too, so ticks two boxes for me, which makes it an even greater option in my book. Its slow-release energy benefits keep you in full form till the end of the day. All you need are five easy to find ingredients
Ingredients For No-Coffee Elixir
- One banana
- A handful of raw cacao
- Two handfuls of blackberries
- Two handfuls of raw oats soaked overnight (I use the gluten free ones)
- One cup of cashew, almond or coconut milk (I prefer coconut)
Preparation:
Mix them all in a blender and enjoy!
Top Tips:
- I recommend you use the above quantities as guidance and play around with them until you reach the texture and the taste that you enjoy best. Afterall, it is about you and your needs. I sometimes enjoy it more fluid, other times I like it thicker and have it with a spoon.
- If you have one of those portable blenders, you can prepare it wherever you are and I recommend you invest in one. They are easy to carry and very handy.
- If not, you can prepare it in the morning and keep it in a fridge until you need it.
- Not an option either? You could have it made on request, probably in any shop that does fresh smoothies or juices. Who knows, you might even inspire them to put it on their menu for all the other spark women to enjoy and benefit from.
- To make it even more efficient, why not take the time you drink this smoothie to also recharge your mind and balance your emotions by listening to a soothing song, meditate for a few minutes, or just change your focus to thoughts that make you feel happy and smile.
It’s important to be kind with yourself when your energy drops. Rather than kicking yourself and pumping more caffeine into your system, opt for a healthier alternative that helps you recharge without charging your nervous system to flourish all those feelings of anxiety. Be kind to yourself, nourish your body and nurture your mind.
